Review: Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte

You know that money-can’t-buy-happiness thingy, right? Yap, that’s bulls**t! You know why? Cause money can sure buy those nice lipsticks- and that’s pretty much happiness to me.

Lately, I prefer to use matte lipsticks. There’s no particular reason, I just like it that way. Oh, maybe there’s a reason- it lasts longer. However, matte lipstick is a mate to dry lips (I know, I am funny like that!). Surely I don’t like dry lips cause it makes my lips darker. But then God saved me, he led me to pick Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte.

Unlike any other matte lipsticks, Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte is so soft. The finish is also a soft matte, which blends naturally in your lips. You will not be troubled with dry lips as your lips will stay as moist as ever. However, please do apply lip balm before putting this matte lipstick. What I love most about the lipsticks is that they are scent-free and taste-free. Adding those to the softness, you won’t feel it at all.

I have been using the lipsticks for nearly six months now. The wear time of the lipsticks is between four to five hours, quite average I can say (or no?). I do reapply it after lunch, but just one smooth swipe. There are several shades available, but I chose M RD 165 and M PK 376.

What I don’t like from the lipsticks is that they are easily broken. I broke both my M RD 165 and M PK 376 in less than a month- I am sure I didn’t use it too rough. Another thing I don’t like from the lipsticks is the packaging. I won’t consider it as a cheap lipstick, cause it is not cheap- or at least for me it is not. But unlike other not-cheap-lipsticks-according-to-me, the packaging is too simple.

Review: Shu Uemura Depsea Water Lavender Mist

My face skin is a total nightmare. It is the worst combination of dry and oily skins, and very sensitive. My dermatologist suggested me to use face spray or face mist as it sometime goes too dry. I remember that my first face spray was Avene Thermal Spring Water. It is a good face spray product, but it doesn’t really solve my problem. I then tried Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray, which is cheaper than Avene. It is not bad at all, but again, it doesn’t help my case. These two products make my skin feels sticky and don’t really work with my makeup. I then stopped using any kind of face spray products.

A month ago, I visited Shu Uemura to refill my compact and spotted the blue bottle of Depsea Water Facial Mist. The sales girl explained to me about it in a very convincing way. I doubted 80% of her words but was willing to give it a try. There are actually 9 options for the scent, but unfortunately the boutique I visited only had 3 variances and I opted for Lavender.

I use the product daily; before applying my SKII face serum and morning cream, after applying my makeup, before applying my night cream, and several times during the day. The texture of this facial mist is very fine and covers most of the skin easily.  It doesn’t make your skin sticky at all. You don’t have to worry about the scent because it is not overwhelming, totally pleasant and goes away quickly.

After using it for more than a month, I have to say that this product is amazing! It doesn’t only help to refresh my skin, but also to moisturize it. I am no longer experiencing any dryness after my skin treatment. Well, I bet people with acne-prone skin mostly experience a condition in which the products they use to overcome the breakouts and pimple all are drying on their skins. So this product is the best solution to help your skin feels less irritated. In addition, it helps smooth out some roughness in my face and works really well with my makeup.

I thought they put some magic in its ingredient, but of course not! (Soz, not funny!) The ingredients of this lovely product are Maris Aqua, Methylparaben, Linalool, and Fragrance. Shu Uemura claimed that the seawater is taken from great depths with over 60 minerals- meaning to say, it is the purest, most stable water on earth. I know I shouldn’t believe in those kinds of advertisement word, but I did.

Just incase you want to prove the magic of the product by yourself, please visit the nearest Shu Uemura official outlet or boutique. Depsea Water Facial Mist is a little bit pricey- just like the rest of the company’s products. It costs 340,000IDR for a bottle of 150ml Depsea Water, but it’s worth every penny!

Review: Shu Uemura Dual Fit Pressed Powder

I would like to admit that I am not that kind of super-picky-and-read-all-the-reviews-before-buying-a-makeup kind of person. People's opinions won't stop me. I know that it is important to know what you are buying, but seriously, trying and proving it by yourself are so much better. I do read reviews on make-up brands and products- just so I know. That's probably the reason why I am writing this make-up review; because someone out there might want to know a tiny-bit about the product before she or he is going to purchase it. So here I am with another review on Shu Uemura.

Previously, I talked about Shu Uemura Oleo-Pact Foundation, which I am currently using as my daily foundation. Last night I had a chance to get another Shu Uemura product, which is Dual Fit Pressed Powder. Referring to its name, it has two unique textured powders. The two textured powders work against two major skin concerns, which are shine and dryness. I learned that the two should be mixed in order to get a balanced finish. (I am sorry that you can't see the two different textures clearly in the pictures that I took- not a good photographer after all.)

Bare in your mind that it is a pressed powder (compressed loose powder), so do not expect a foundation-like properties, ok?! It will not give you a full coverage; the texture is very light. But I think as long as you use it along with your favorite foundation, it will manage to work well. After using it for about 4 hours, I feel that my skin (my-oh-so-oily-skin) gets a little shiny but it doesn't build up or look powdery after several applications over the day.

The packaging is so compact, yet elegant- 'very Shu' as I can say. It is a square glossy black compact with a flat brush stored on top of the pan and a mirror. I read that some people prefer to use sponge as the applicator because it works better- so I might try it later.

Well for the price, umm.. it is not the cheapest, obv! The packaging costs extra, which is 240,000IDR. But you are able to refill only the compact at IDR430,000 if you want to repurchase it. Sounds more affordable I guess?!

I definitely gonna switch my previous face powder (Lancome Teint Miracle) to this. However I do think that it's a lil bit pricey at first- but not for the refill.

Review: Shu Uemura- The Lightbulb Oleo-Pact Foundation

Last weekend, I went to Lotte Shopping Avenue and bought my very first Shu Uemura product. I’ve known this brand for quite long and read so many reviews about it (but never bought one tho, lol). I didn’t even plan to buy one of their products that night, but I ran out of my daily foundation so I had to buy it. My previous daily foundation is Lancome Mat Miracle 24H- it is good and light and I love Julia Roberts (??), but it doesn’t provide enough coverage (at least for me, k!). So then I was like “I’ll buy what I think I want to buy (without any review)” and I found myself in Shu Uemura outlet.

I came up to this gay, woops, I mean ‘guy’, and asked him for a daily foundation product. He gave me two choices, which were the Lightbulb Fluid Foundation and the Lightbulb Oleo-Pact Foundation. I’ve heard a lot about the Lightbulb Fluid, but I've never heard about the Oleo-Pact before, so then I thought I’ll just try this new chick.

The Lightbulb Oleo-Pact Foundation is a new product from Shu Eumura. It comes in a cream compact version, with no water added and new jellified oil complex- plus, it comes along with a dome-shaped sponge that helps to apply the foundation into the skin and creates veil satin glow. The sponge is thin at the edge (3mm) and thick at the peak (10mm). So as you notice, most make up artists would bend and hold the sponge in such a way that it is shaped like a dome to make it easier to apply and to avoid streaks on the skin. Since the shape of the sponge has been already dome-shaped so then you don’t have to bend the sponge anymore. So stick with the sponge, ok!

There are 16 shades of color that you can choose. I tried 554 and 564- and chose 564 Medium Light Sand. The guy told me that this foundation should last for 12 hours without looking dull, but then I know my skin very well and I know I shouldn’t expect too much for that. After I tried it, I have to admit that the coverage is better compared to my previous foundation- I'm sorry Julia Roberts. The texture is light- and I love it! I could say that it stays put on my skin for a few hours (no, not 12hours!), without too much fading. It covers my large pores, redness and dark circle. It comes to SPF25 PA++, so some of you might want to use additional sunscreen underneath.

Overall, I love this product. It lasts on my skin and covers the job of my concealer as well. I would definitely recommend it to you, and just incase you want to get one, the price is IDR 680K.
